As a responsible corporate entity, we have adopted the highest standards of social commitment into the heart of our business, and we have a strong role to play in the UAE’s industrial and social development. Our focus is on developing a sustainable business that cares for its employees, customers, shareholders, suppliers, the natural environment, and our society.
Since 1979, Ducab has consistently given back to the communities in which we operate through corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives. To amplify our efforts, ten years ago the company formed a CSR team to create a strategic framework and a more targeted approach.
We assess ourselves according to the Dubai Chamber CSR label framework, which is specifically tailored to the Gulf region and based on international best practices. Our CSR strategy focuses on four key areas: workplace, marketplace, community, and environment. Since 2012, we have been a recipient of the Dubai Chamber CSR label award every year, affirming our strong commitment to the community.
Autism Awareness
Our employees participated in the Global Autism Awareness Festival and Walk 2017.
Walk for Education
As a supporter of educational initiatives, our team participated in the Dubai Cares organised walk for education.
Power Over Fire
First launched in 2013, in partnership with the UAE Civil Defence, this educational roadshow raised awareness of fire safety and hazards that can potentially cause building fires. Our truck travelled the UAE distributing information to the public, dealers, and retailers in the electrical products supply chain. It featured touch-screen kiosks and a classroom for seminars to raise fire safety awareness amongst attendees.
Gift Of Light
In celebration of the UAE’s Year of Giving, we launched our Gift of Light project to encourage members of the public to share kind and positive sentiments. For every message shared, we donated $2 to Salma Humanitarian Aid, an initiative by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates and Ruler of Dubai, which provides long-life meals of 100% certified halal food to disaster victims.
Blood Donation Campaign
Our employees regularly contribute towards supporting their local community by donating potentially life-saving blood in organised blood drives.
The Year of Giving
2017 was declared as the Year of Giving by His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE. We arranged a variety of activities throughout the year, including distributing more than 2,000 meals to labourers in Dubai and Abu Dhabi.
